Academic Collaborations

International Institutions

The MOU with foreign institutions such as Harbin Institute of Technology, China, Tokai University, Japan, Freiberg University of Mining and Technology, Germany, University of Strathclyde, U.K. provide opportunities for both staff and student exchange programs, joint research projects, which lead to strengthening the Faculty's capabilities in education and research. Recently, academic collaboration with National University of Laos has been established.

Academic co-operation with HIT began in 1998 when Prof. Dr. Yang Qian and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dusanee Thanaboripat acted as coordinators. The informal collaboration was first started when Prof. Dr. Yang Qian visited KMITL in 1995. Until now the link between these two institutions has strengthened and more activities have been carried out such as

- Exchange of undergraduate students for one month's training in host institutions.
- Exchange of lecturers or Professors for teaching or research.
- Exchange of staff, MSc. or PhD. students for joint research projects.
- Co-organizing International Conferences or Seminars at host institutions.

Third year students in Petrochemistry (International Program) study two selective subjects with well known Professors at Freiberg University of Mining and Technology, and visit Plants in Germany for one and a half months during summer vacation.

Collaboration with University of Strathclyde, UK.

Invited lecturers and professors from University of Strathclyde, UK, are invited to conduct special lectures and various subjects for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Collaboration with National University of Laos (NUOL)

The academic collaboration between Faculty of Science, National University of Laos and Faculty of Science, KMITL was recently established when Prof.Dr. Somkot Mangnomer, the president of NUOL visited Faculty of Science, KMITL in January 2004 in order to discuss sending lecturers from Faculty of Science, NUOL to study Master program in Computer Science (International Program).

Since then, the Deans of Faculty of Science from both universities have discussed on academic collaboration in more depth.

During May 10-21, 2004, KMITL sent 7 lecturers from Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science to conduct a short training course for staff members of NUOL. More academic collaboration in various fields will be carried out.
