Applied mathematics might be the major for you! Regardless of the career path you choose, the ability to define and formulate problems, find solutions, and communicate your results is critical. It also provides excellent preparation for graduate programs in engineering, science, business, and medicine.

 

 

The mathematics major is broad and flexible. A bachelor's degree in mathematics will prepare you for jobs in statistics, actuarial science, mathematical modeling, cryptography, mathematics education, as well as for graduate school leading to a research career in engineering, mathematics or statistics. A strong background in mathematics is also necessary for research in many areas of computer science and social science. The flexibility of the major allows the student to choose a variety of courses in a secondary area.

KMITL’s 4 year curriculum offers a foundation in fundamental theory and
provides the tools and methods to apply this knowledge to real world problems.

The graduate will also strengthen their character for the greater benefit of the nation.

KMITL’s department of mathematics offers 3 concentrations:

  • Mathematics - concentrate on advanced mathematics, develop research in mathematics and applied mathematics.
  • Industrial Mathematics - focus on using mathematical models to solve problems in insurance, financial and investment markets, communication systems, and production planning.
  • Information Mathematics - solve problems in information systems and business.


Students wishing to earn Master’s degree may apply for our accelerated program.

KMITL offers a program where you can complete both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in just 5 years.
After graduation, students may pursue careers as an analyst, programmer, researcher or mathematician.

Graduate: Master’s in Applied Mathematics - 2 year program

The student can gain a broad and deep knowledge in applied mathematics.
A thesis is required and 2 sets of the subjects that are required.

While a master's might whet your appetite for further study, graduates are likely to be in demand for a range of jobs, from banking and IT to meteorology and engineering.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or another related field.

Ph.D in Applied Mathematics - 3 year program

The general aim of the doctoral program in mathematics is to prepare qualified graduate students to become productive workers in industry or government, or academic research scholars capable of communicating their knowledge to students and to the mathematical community. The program is planned to develop in the student a fundamental understanding of certain basic fields of mathematics, a deep understanding of a major field of interest, the ability to formulate and recognize significant research problems, and the ability to analyze problems, reach solutions, and transmit ideas to others.

Bachelor of Science Program in Computer Science is the responsibility of the Department of Computer Science. The objective is to produce the Bachelor degree students in Computer fields. Nowadays, the computer technologies are widely used and have become essential tools in every field. Thus, to achieve the goals in developing the country, it is necessary to have enough computer personnel who can apply computer knowledge in all fields. Evidently, neither developing countries nor under-developing countries have enough computer personnel to do the works. Thailand is no exception in facing this computer personnel shortage. Therefore, there is an urgently need to produce computer graduates who should be able to apply the use of computers in developing the country.

Department of Biology

Our Department is responsible for producing versatile graduates in Biotechnology and Industrial Microbiology. We also conducts M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs in biotechnology with emphasis on the exploitation of microorganisms in industry and agriculture. Various products and wastes from industry and agriculture can be turned into high value products by microbiological processes. Biotechnology has been defined as the integrated use of microbiology, biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and economics resulting in industrial application of biological organisms. It is being used in such diverse fields as agriculture, medicine, energy generation and environmental protection.
Graduates will be skilled in both theory and practice. There is a continual demand for biotechnologists and microbiologists in different organizations such as research institutes, government and other public sector organizations.

The program focuses on training enrolled students to become scientists in multidisciplinary biotechnology including genetic engineering, fermentation technology and cell cultures.

Department of Chemistry

Faculty of Science King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang

 

Department of Chemistry, KMITL aims to produce undergraduate and postgraduate students having knowledge in Chemistry and Applied Chemistry. The study programs are specially designed for students who like Chemistry and interested in Applied Chemistry. The program has been running since 1982. The Bachelor’s degree program is a 4 year course. The core subjects for years 1-2 are the fundamentals of chemistry and related scientific subjects which are the basic of today’s technology. In years 3 and 4 of B.Sc. (Industrial Chemistry), students may choose the major subject of their interest. To foster class learning and research skill, the Department also provides a number of laboratories specializing in many areas of research. The fourth year students are required to carry out their special projects.

Master’s degree program contains both 2 year- research based course and taught course. Doctoral’s degree program contains both 3 year-research based course and taught course.
